KUNR Public Radio

If you ask me, too many news stations play it safe.

And, I get it. We live in an era where years and years of journalistic credibility mean jack-all to a significant portion of the population. Hard to take risks when the line to toe is so narrow.

KUNR is different. They’re the only news source in Northern Nevada and the Eastern Sierra combining local reporting that’s both in-depth and straight to the point with renowned, international stories from NPR.

Put another way, listening to KUNR is like turning on the AC inside the hot, locked car that is the American news climate.

And, in good journalistic fashion, we knew that if we wanted to make claims about credibility, we better have the data to back it up.

That’s how you build trust.

Results

At the conclusion of the pro (4 years of on-and-off branding and creative campaigns [thanks pandemic]), KUNR Public Radio was listed as the top-ranked station in the Reno radio market in the spring 2022 audience survey by Nielsen Audio, which measures radio listenership across the country.

Out of the 31 stations in the Reno market, KUNR had the highest audience share and ranked number one in the categories of Overall Listening, Afternoon Drive (3 p.m. - 7 p.m.) and Morning Drive (6 a.m. - 10 a.m.), arguably the most critical time slot for radio.
